It owns and manages 20 large dams and more than 280 weirs and regulators. State Water delivers water along 7,000km of rivers, for town water supplies, irrigation, stock and domestic use and industry, including mines and electricity generators. In a normal year, this involves the delivery of 4,600 GL of water. State Water delivers water in accordance with approved water sharing plans and is responsible for about 9,000GL of water for the environment along regulated rivers. The corporation also monitors water usage, manages customer accounts, bills and collects bulk water charges. Locally-elected Customer Service Committee representatives throughout rural and regional NSW interact with State Water personnel to address local issues, netune service delivery and keep the organisation abreast of localised industry trends.
